Gameplay[]

Pivot's world map is divided into 49 screens or "blocks", arranged in a 7 x 7 grid. Players navigate to each block by walking, jumping and rotating the screen at a 90 degree angle. Each screen has a gold chest that the player must collect in order to complete the game. To obtain the chest, the player must be facing in its same orientation. Some screens require the player to enter in a specific orientation from another screen and can require advance planning.

There are 50 chests in total to collect, although one chest is hidden away in a final room that is unlocked after finding the other 49.

Completion[]

After collecting 98% of the chests, the player must proceed to the final screen where a thin grey door will open, leading to the 50th room with the final chest. If the player enters this area and does not have 98% of the chests, the door will remain locked.

Once the player obtains the final chest and has 100% completion, the screen will fade to white and black text will appear in the centre of the screen displaying the total rotations made in that playthrough. Pressing any key leads back to the menu screen.

Interactive objects[]

  • Gold chests - The main objective of the game. The player must obtain them by landing on or walking through them on the same platform in the same orientation. Each chest counts towards 2% of the player's completion. If the player quits the game and reloads their progress, they will spawn in the position where the last chest was collected, allowing the item to act as a checkpoint.
  • Water - Passing through water slows the player's movement.
  • Grey door - Appears in the endgame screen only. The door remains closed until the player enters the screen with 98% completion.

Soundtrack[]

Pivot has two music tracks.
